Final Touch Cakes raises £1,000 for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance

Posted: 15th Mar 2017

Delighted to hear our cake featuring the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, raised £1,000. This fantastic achievement was featured in both the Hampshire Chronicle and Daily Echo.

The cake featured a map of Hampshire and Isle of Wight and an air ambulance helicopter – all of which were made from cake!

The cause is one which is very close to our heart as our cake maker Karen Young, was rescued by HIOWAA in 2009 after she had an allergic reaction to a bee sting. She commented; ‘I will always be incredibly grateful to HIOWAA. Being in a situation where your breathing is restricted is really frightening and I shall never forget the day that I was rescued. The Air Ambulance brought the medical professionals and drugs that I needed. They were fantastic.’

The cake was made for a sale in advance of the ‘Great Hampshire Cake Sale’ in order to help raise the funds necessary to keep the Air Ambulance flying and saving lives. The sale will take place on Friday 24th March from 9am – 4pm at St Maurice’s Covert, The High Street, Winchester.
